Notes on players going overseas, and some who may be heading over soon
  • Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune:Vinny Lecavalier plans to stay in Tampa until the lockout is over, though that could change.

“I want to play hockey, but we’ll see how things go,” he said. “With a family now, you definitely have to think there is more than one person to think about. But my kids are young, so if I do go somewhere, it’s easier to move them around.”

  • Tim Panaccio of CSN Phillly: Daniel Briere is getting closer to going to play in Europe. Briere said he has “a few options.” Scott Hartnell is expected to make a decision on playing overseas by week’s end.
  • Slava Malamud via twitter: Vladislav Tretiak to Sport-Express, “Nabokov is still waiting for KHL offers, but there are none”
  • Pierre LeBrun via twitter: Martin Brodeur will wait until the end of the month before deciding on whether to look overseas.
  • Matias Strozyk via twitter: Jiri Hudler on his injury, “If I don’t treat it now it only gets worse. The pain isn’t unbearable but bothers me. Mainly limits mobility.”
  • Randy Miller of the Courier-Post: Bobby Ryan doesn’t want to go overseas and take someone’s job.

“I’m going to handle things the way I think things should be handled,” he said. “I’m going to continue to skate with the guys … whether it’s coming back here (to South Jersey) for a couple weeks at a time … I think it’s important to stay here (in the United States) and be part of the solution and not just run from it.”
