The Edmonton Oilers have traded left winger Dane Byers to the Washington Capitals for defenseman Garrett Stafford.
The 27-year old Byers was drafted by the Rangers, 48th overall in the 2nd round of the 2004 draft.
The 33-year old Stafford carries a $550,000 cap hit.
