On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
- James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail: If a team like the Blackhawks want to add a big salary like Eric Staal’s, they could trade Bryan Bickell to a team like the Maple Leafs to create the cap space they need. The Leafs would need a draft pick or prospect to sweeten the pot of taking on the salary. The Blues, Capitals, Lightning, Penguins and Kings also have a bit of a cap issues.
- L.A. Lariviere: P.A. Parenteau has been told that he will be traded.
- John Shannon: Parenteau’s agent Allen Walsh: “If anyone says PA was told he’ll be moved, it’s not accurate.”
On the Los Angeles Kings …
- Dennis Bernstein: The Kings have a shot at Andrew Ladd, but don’t think they are the favorite.
- Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: The Kings are looking at the trade market for a defenseman. Source saying that GM Dean Lombardi thinks the prices are too high for the rental market and may not be worth it. The Kings could also be looking to add a forward after Marian Gaborik’s injury. One forward the Kings could be interested in is Oilers Teddy Purcell.
- Lisa Dillman: If the Kings do anything before the trade deadline, expect the move to be an unexpected on.
On the Columbus Blue Jackets …
- Aaron Portzline: A year ago we were hearing that a Cam Atkinson trade might be close, but it seems unlikely now, unless they are able to get a proven offensive piece back.
On the Arizona Coyotes …
- Dave Vest: Coyotes GM Don Maloney: “We’re not throwing the towel in. There’s still lots of hockey to be played.”
On Scott Gomez …
- Frank Seravalli: Teams looking for a depth forward could look at Scott Gomez who has 23 points in 16 AHL games.
On Dryden Hunt …
- Darren Dreger: There are at least five teams that are interested in signing the 20 year old Dryden Hunt. A decision is expected as early as next week.
- News 1130 Sports: Dryden Hunt’s agent said the Canucks have shown interest, but haven’t made an offer.
- Darren Dreger: The Flames are one of the five teams that are interested in Hunt.
