Bob McKenzie via twitter: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello was in Toronto last night to meet with Parise. Nick Kypreos via twitter: It doesn’t appear like the Rangers will make an offer on Parise. Kypreos finds it hard to believe that Parise would come this far then decide an hour before free agency starts to re-sign with the Devils.

Matt Carle could be another target. The Wings will target Zach Parise. Shane Doan, Ryan Smyth, Jaromir Jagr and Alexander Semin could be other possible targets. - Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer: Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said “We’ll be poking around.” They’d like to add a veteran defenseman, preferably a top 4 who plays on the right side. They could also use a scoring winger and a backup goalie. The Hurricanes could make an offer for Zach Parise. They might re-sign one of Bryan Allen or Jaroslav Sapacek. The ‘Canes could take a look at Adrian Aucoin, Michal Rozsival, Jason Garrison or Filip Kuba. Dustin Penner, P.A. Parenteau, Shane Doan and Ray Whitney could be offensive targets.
