  • Darren Dreger via twitter: As per Pierre LeBrun, Zach Parise will decide by 10 this morning in terms of officially testing the free agent market. Bob McKenzie via twitter: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello was in Toronto last night to meet with Parise. Nick Kypreos via twitter: It doesn’t appear like the Rangers will make an offer on Parise. Kypreos finds it hard to believe that Parise would come this far then decide an hour before free agency starts to re-sign with the Devils.
  • Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: The Wings are expected to lose Jiri Hudler. The Wings would love to add Ryan Suter. Jason Garrison could be a Brad Stuart replacement. Matt Carle could be another target. The Wings will target Zach Parise. Shane Doan, Ryan Smyth, Jaromir Jagr and Alexander Semin could be other possible targets. They also need to bring in a back up goalie. Ranks 5 possible Red Wings targets: 1. Ryan Suter 2. Zach Parise 3. Matt Carle 4. Shane Doan 5. Jason Garrison
  • Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer: Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said “We’ll be poking around.”  They’d like to add a veteran defenseman, preferably a top 4 who plays on the right side. They could also use a scoring winger and a backup goalie. The Hurricanes could make an offer for Zach Parise. They might re-sign one of Bryan Allen or Jaroslav Sapacek. The ‘Canes could take a look at Adrian Aucoin, Michal Rozsival, Jason Garrison or Filip Kuba. Dustin Penner, P.A. Parenteau, Shane Doan and Ray Whitney could be offensive targets.
  • Erik Erlendsson via twitter: The Lighting adding Martin Brodeur is an interesting thought but not sure if it’s realistic.
  • Todd Cordell via twitter: Alexei Ponikarovsky’s agent said he hasn’t heard from Lou Lamoriello since draft weekend and will test the market.
