- Steve MacFarlane of the Calgary Sun: Kyle Turris’ deadline to sign a contract is getting closer. He has to sign a deal by Dec. 1st if he wants to play in the NHL this year. The longer the situation drags out, the stronger the Coyotes position becomes in both the trade market and sending a message that they won’t be bullied by an unproven 22 year old. The Flames want him now, but what would it take to get him? It would likely take draft picks and prospects. MacFarlane wonders if a 3rd rounder and TJ Brodie could get a deal done. He also lists off other possible trade scenarios.
Heading to Phoenix:
• 2012 1st-round pick, conditional mid-round selection
• G Joni Ortio and a 2013 2nd-round pick
• RW Rene Bourque and a 2012 4th-round pick
• D T.J. Brodie and RW Patrick Holland and a 3rd-round pick
• D T.J. Brodie and LW Greg Nemisz and a 4th-round pick
• RW Rene Bourque and D T.J. Brodie for Turris and LW Boyd Gordon
- The Detroit News: The
6046 year old Dominik Hasek (47 in Jan.) is considering playing hockey in Europe. He’s been keeping in shape so that he’s “ready” to play again.
“All those activities keep me in good shape,” he said in the story at NHL.com. “I still think about returning to play hockey next year, so it is important for me to do other sports now and be ready.”
