Salary arbitration offerings and askings

Elliotte Friedman: The Buffalo Sabres have offered Jake McCabe $1.95 million and McCabe asked for $4.3 million.

  • Updated: Paul Hamilton: The Sabres and McCabe avoid arbitration and agree on a two-year deal with an AAV of $2.85 million.

Elliotte Friedman: The Carolina Hurricanes have offered Anton Forsberg a two-way $700,000 NHL ($70,000 in the minors) and Forsberg asked for $833,000.

Elliotte Friedman: The St. Louis Blues have offered Joel Edmundson $2.3 million and Edmundson asked for $4.3 million.

Elliotte Friedman: The Nashville Predators have offered Rocco Grimaldi a two-way $700,000 ($200,000 in the minors) and Grimaldi asked for $1.275 million.

Green on Eriksson’s comments

Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet: Vancouver Canucks coach Travis Green on Loui Eriksson‘s comments that they didn’t always get along and that doesn’t trust him like his other coaches.

“I was surprised that it came out publicly. But I’m not surprised that he isn’t happy about certain things. Players are proud — they want to play well and want to have individual success. I understand Loui hasn’t scored as much as he wanted to and maybe played at times as much as he wanted to. I understand that and we’ve discussed that. But it happens a lot (in the NHL). I like to think I have an open-door policy and try to be as honest with players as I can. Loui and I have talked about his play and I know he’s frustrated.”

Green added that he hasn’t spoken to Eriksson since he made those comments.

Flames buyout Stone

Kristen Anderson: The Calgary Flames have bought out defenseman Michael Stone. The Flames now have around $7.76 million in salary cap space. That still likely isn’t enough to re-signed both Matthew Tkachuk and Andrew Mangiapane.

With buyout of Stone, there is a path to the Flames being cap compliant without making any further personnel moves, but it would involve:
– A 13F / 7D / 2G roster
– Tkachuk signing for $7.5M AAV or less
– Mangiapane signing for $1M AAV (see Kevin Labanc)
– Using Davidson as 7th D pic.twitter.com/0DXSDlm6R5

With the Micheal Stone buyout accounted for, we now show the Calgary #Flames with $7.76M in projected cap space
