New ownership again for the Coyotes

John Shannon: Source confirms that there will be another ownership change with the Arizona Coyotes. Andrew Barroway will retain a minority position with the team.

A coaching decision for the Senators could come soon now

Ottawa Senators: The Senators have named D.J. Smith their next head coach.

Chris Stevenson: Hearing that the Ottawa Senators next round of coaching interviews could be down to two or three candidates. A final decision could come in a week or so.

Bob McKenzie: Would expect the Senators to make a head coaching decision by the weekend, likely Saturday. They will then need to negotiate a deal, so could expect an announcement sometime early next week.

Bruce Garrioch: Patrick Roy and Senators GM Pierre Dorion were seen in Montreal on Tuesday.

Oilers sign a prospect

Kurt Leavins: The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenseman Logan Day to a one-year entry-level deal. He has been working his way up the Oilers prospect depth chart.

Tippett the only candidate in Edmonton?

Pierre LeBrun: The Edmonton Oilers coaching candidates list has been cut down and some have been interviewed. The naming of coach could happen by Friday or wait until the June 3rd week due to the draft combine next week.

Bob McKenzie: Sense is that Dave Tippett is the front runner for the head coaching position, and for the moment, the only candidate for the position. This could change quickly if Oilers GM Ken Holland and Tippett aren’t on the same page with regards to term of a contract, amongst other things.

Some Hurricanes injury notes

Mike Maniscalco: Back in November Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dougie Hamilton had his little finger broken in two parts. He played all 82 regular season games this year.

Canes PR: Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook had surgery on Tuesday to repair a core muscle injury. Recovery is expected to be four to six weeks.

Defenseman Calvin de Haan had surgery on his right shoulder and is expected to be out for four to six months.
