Hunwick not able to play this season

Buffalo Sabres: GM Jason Botterill on defenseman Matt Hunwick: “After further medical evaluation this offseason, we unfortunately do not expect that Matt will be physically able to play this upcoming season due to a neck condition.”

Krebs doesn’t have a timetable

The Sin Bin: Vegas Golden Knights 2019 first round pick Peyton Krebs to the Winnipeg Free Press: “Still day-by-day and week-by-week. With the Achilles, compared to a broken bone, you don’t really have a set timeline. Obviously, there are going to be up-and-downs but as I move forward, there’ll be maybe a couple of setbacks but I’ll punch forward.”

Lovejoy retires

Sean Shapiro: Defenseman Ben Lovejoy retires from the NHL after 12 seasons. He played with the Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

The NHL plans on decline their option to re-open the CBA. The NHLPA?

Pierre LeBrun: The NHLPA executive board and others will be meeting next Wednesday for a CBA update discussion.

The players have until September 15th to decide whether they are going to opt-out of the CBA for 2020. The NHL has until Sunday to opt-out.

Pierre LeBrun: Both the NHL and NHLPA have spoken numerous times this offseason.

Darren Dreger: The NHL is expected to announce in the next day or two that they are planning on declining their option to re-open the CBA.
