NHL injury notes

Elliott Teaford: Injured Anaheim Ducks that were on the ice yesterday – Ondrej Kase, Sam Steel, Josh Mahura and John Gibson.

Richard Morin: Arizona Coyotes goaltender Antti Raanta fully participated in practiced yesterday so he’s presumed healthy. The Coyotes assigned Adin Hill to the AHL.

Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports: Boston Bruins forward David Krejci missed practice again yesterday. He’s been out for a week with a lower-body injury. The Bruins continue to say he’ll be ready for opening night on Thursday.

Forward Joakim Nordstrom (foot) was also not on the ice.

Dana Wakiji: Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill on defenseman Jonathan Ericcson: “(Ericsson’s) the only one as of today that’s not available and I don’t anticipate him for Saturday.”

Caley Chelios: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper said that defenseman Victor Hedman and forward Tyler Johnson are day-to-day. They are hopeful to be ready for the start of the season.

Erik Erlendsson: Lightning forward Brayden Point practiced in a regular jersey yesterday.

Thomas Drance: Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning on Brock Boeser: “He’s 100% cleared.”

David Schoen: Vegas Golden Knights forward Alex Tuch is expected to be put on the IR.

If forward Cody Eakin isn’t ready to go, then the Knights start with 13 forwards and 8 defensemen.

Ken Wiebe: Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff didn’t have an updated on injured forward Bryan Little. He left Saturday’s game early after taking a high hit.

A big jump in the salary cap could be three years away

James (@Account4hockey): Elliotte Friedman said that a new US TV deal is two years away. The NHL and NHLPA are talking about delaying the significant salary cap increase for an extra year. This is likely to allow a reduction of escrow at a certain percentage that the players would be okay with

Friedman says that the cap should go up about $2 million a season for the next three years and then there would be a big jump in the cap number.

Roster notes for the Avs, Rangers and Jets

AJ Haefele: The Colorado Avalanche put Kevin Connauton and Jayson Megna on waivers yesterday but coach Jared Bednar said they are both still contenders to make the team.

Jim Cerny: Defenseman Brendan Smith is on the New York Rangers roster and they’d released defenseman Joe Morrow from his PTO.

Ken Wiebe: Jets GM Cheveldayoff on Dustin Byfuglien: “The situation is status quo.”
