Cap Friendly: The Calgary Flames have signed forward Zac Rinaldo to a one-year contract with a salary cap hit of $700,000. He was in camp on a PTO.
Puck Pedia: The Flames signed forward Tobias Rieder to a one-year contract with a salary cap hit of $700,000. He was in camp on a PTO. He’ll get $700,000 in the NHL, $300,000 in the minors with $400,000 guaranteed.
NHL injury updates
Reid Wilkins: Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been bothered by a sore leg but he’ll be fine for their season opener.
Shelly Anderson: Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby took a Marco Scandella shot off the foot and has held out of their remainder of the game (Saturday) as a precaution. Crosby skated for a bit before practice today.
Forward Bryan Rust took a Colin Miller shot to the right hand.
It’s not known at the moment their status for Thursday’s opener.
Forward Alex Galchenyuk is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. He’s expected to skate on his own tomorrow.
