Flyers re-sign Provorov

Elliotte Friedman: The Philadelphia Flyers have signed RFA defenseman Ivan Provorov to a six-year deal with a AAV of $6.75 million.

Dave Isaac: Provorov’s contract doesn’t contain any no-trade protection.

Jets sign Morrissey to a big extension

Winnipeg Jets PR: The Jets and defenseman Josh Morrissey agreed on an eight-year $50 million contract extension – a $6.25 million salary cap hit.

2020-21: $8 million
2021-22: $8 million
2022-23: $5.2 million
2023-24: $8 million
2024-25: $6.4 million
2025-26: $4.8 million
2026-27: $4.8 million
2027-28: $4.8 million

Ken Wiebe: Morrissey gets a no-movement clause in years three through five. Years six through eight he has a no-trade clause.

Penguins re-sign Pettersson

Matt Vensel: The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Marcus Pettersson to a one-year, one-way contract worth $874,125.

Capitals waiting on the league

J.J. Regan: Washington Capitals GM Bryan MacLellan said they still haven’t heard anything from the league if there will be any supplemental discipline for Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Sbisa gets a PTO from the Islanders

Andrew Gross: The New York Islanders will be bringing defenseman Luca Sbisa to training camp on a PTO.

Injury notes heading into camp

Ryan Rishaug: Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid said that he “expects to be out there” .

Michael Augello: Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock said that defenseman Travis Dermott will likely miss their first “12 to 14 games.”

That would have him returning around the start the November.

TSN 1200: Ottawa Senators coach D.J. Smith said that Christian Wolanin slipped on the ice earlier this week and tore his labrum.

Wolanin will be out for four months.

David Schoen: Vegas Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon said that forward Ryan Reaves suffered an offseason training injury and will miss training camp. He is listed as day-to-day.

Eriksson still with the Canucks

Thomas Drance: Vancouver Canucks forward Loui Eriksson when asked if he had hoped he was traded in the offseason.

“It hasn’t been working out the way it should be in Vancouver. I’ve tried to work hard, done everything I can to work my hardest… right now I’m just focused on Vancouver.

“All you can do is, do your best. Everyone who plays on this team is ready to do that. We’ve got some good pickups this summer.”
