Sabres and Ullmark avoid arbitration

Lance Lysowski: The Buffalo Sabres and Linus Ullmark avoided salary arbitration and signed a one-year contract for $1.325 million.

Cap Friendly: The Sabres now have a buyout window that will open in a couple of days and will be open for 48 hours.

For a player to be bought out he must have been on the Sabres reserve list at the trade deadline and carry a salary cap hit of at least $3,455,438.

Sabres 2017 draft pick will remain in Sweden

Heather Engel of NHL.com: Buffalo Sabres 2017 2nd round draft pick Marcus Davidsson will remain in Sweden for another season before considering the jump to North America. He had signed with his hometown of Vaxjo earlier in the spring and has spoken with many Swedish players.

“I’ve checked with a lot of Swedish players, how they feel, and I don’t see anything bad with staying another year at home where you feel comfortable,” Davidsson said during Sabres development camp in June. “Now I moved from my hometown to a new city. But I think it’s easier and a better step to do it in Sweden rather than going 10 hours overseas.”

Hill accepts his qualifying offer

Craig Morgan: Arizona Coyotes goaltender Adin Hill accepted his one-year qualifying offer. He was the last RFA for the Coyotes.

Craig Morgan: Source saying he’ll get $708,750 in the NHL and $70,000 in the minors.

Wild’s GM search may not be a quick process

Michael Russo: The Minnesota Wild’s GM search continues. They’ve asked the Montreal Canadiens permission to speak with their assistant GM Scott Mellanby.

Michael Russo: There are the candidates that interviewed last year as well – Tom Fitzgerald and Bill Guerin. Mark Hunter and Chris Drury could be serious candidates this time.

It’s believed that the Wild plan to talk with Don Waddell, or that they already have.

Michael Russo: This could end up being a month-long process for the Wild.
