The Oilers sign Sheahan
Mark Spector: The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Riley Sheahan to a one-year deal worth $900,000.
- Mark Spector: “It is still unknown whether Riley Sheahan can play third line minutes in EDM. More likely a fourth-liner C on a good team. But his faceoff work — 53.2% over past two seasons; 54.9% last season; 50.6% lifetime — is what EDM dearly requires. Esp on the PK.”
- Jim Matheson: “Ongoing situation with Brodziak (back) may have something to do with signing of Sheahan, who will be given a shot at 3C or 4C spot in camp. His name has been out there for months as possibility because of relationship with Holland from Detroit”
The Golden Knight re-sign Schuldt
Jesse Granger: The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Jimmy Schuldt to a one-year deal worth $850,000.
Jesse Granger: Schuldt’s agent Tom Lynn on the negotiation process with the Golden Knights:
“It was an arduous process, taking the better part of two months & requiring the two sides to haggle right up to the morning he reported to camp.
“We are pleased to note that Jimmy is one of the few players in history to to earn a 1-way NHL deal after just 1 game of professional hockey.”
