- Kirk Luedeke: It’s looking like Carl Soderberg has a deal in place with the Bruins and is working on his release from his Swedish team. Two of three things may have happened yesterday, he signed with the Bruins and signed his transfer card, now just needs his Swedish teams release. Hearing that he signed a only a one year contract and could be a UFA at the end of the season.
- Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: The Flyers signed goalie Steve Mason to a one-year, $1.5 million contract extension. He’s making $3.2 million this year.
- Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News: Sabres Steve Ott is a UFA after next season, and like Thomas Vanek and Ryan Miller, he wants to talk with GM Darcy Regier to see what the teams ‘rebuilding’ plans are about.
“I think we all are , absolutely,” Ott said. “I’m 30 years old. I don’t know like everybody else where everybody stands. In these type of moments, you look at where you are. Obviously I came in here with aspirations of staying hopefully for a long time and that’s up to Darcy and management to do so. I go out there and I’m just a hockey player. We’ll let the management do their job.”
