- NHL Network: Potential trade chips for the Canadiens: Alex Galchenyuk, Nathan Beaulieu and Lars Eller.
- Platinum Seat Ghosts: Elliotte Friedman on Carey Price: “We all believe it’s an MCL sprain in the right knee.”
- Platinum Seat Ghosts: Friedman on Price: “I think you have to be under the impression it’s possible he doesn’t play again this year.”
On the New York Rangers …
- Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The Winnipeg Jets have been scouting the NY Rangers lately. Andrew Ladd would look good in a Rangers jersey. The Jets would likely be interested in a package involving some combination of J.T. Miller, Pavel Buchnevich, Dylan McIlrath and a first round pick. Brooks thinks the Rangers shouldn’t give up anyone from their young core.
- Brooks thinks that GM Jeff Gorton has no choice but to recover some assets and trade pending UFA defenseman Keith Yandle. They can’t afford to lose Yandle for nothing.
On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
- Platinum Seat Ghosts: Darren Dreger: “Bozak’s name is consistently out there, whether it’s real or not. In the summer there was some interest, but not enough for Leafs to consider it.”
On the Washington Capitals …
- Jason Brough of Pro Hockey Talk: Brough wonders if the Capitals will look to add some defensive depth as they look to make a deep playoff run. Head coach Barry Trotz is familiar with Dan Hamhuis. Other options could be pending UFAs John-Michael Liles and Roman Polak.
On the Boston Bruins …
- Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Bob McKenzie on NBCSN NHL Live on Bruins pending UFA Loui Eriksson.
“Now, no door has been officially opened or closed with the Boston Bruins, and there have been some contract negotiations along the way.
“But the general sense in the NHL community now is that it’s more likely that he could become available than re-sign in Boston.”
