  • Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington: Alexander Semin is still available. Would the Capitals be interested?

“I’ve never really discussed that sort of thing, whether we’re going to sign someone or not,” Capitals general manager George McPhee said Saturday on the final day of development camp.

“I’d rather not start now. I know that’s not a great answer, but I’ll just stay neutral.”

When asked if the it’s a surprise that Semin is still available, McPhee said: “Not necessarily. It would have to be the right fit for him.” The Penguins and Hurricanes have shown interest, but apparently Semin is holding out for a 2 year, $5 million deal.

  • St. Louis Post Dispatch: Jeremy Rutherford: The Blues have been looking for defenseman, and GM Doug Armstrong continues to the explore the trade market. He’s not looking to trade roster players, only draft picks. Andy Strickland: Carlo Colaiacovo still hasn’t been signed, but Strickland has been told they want to do something bigger.
  • Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: The Blackhawks have had discussions with the Canucks about Roberto Luongo, reportedly dangling Dave Bolland.
  • L.A. Lariviere via twitter: The Canadiens will soon sign 1st round pick Alex Galchenyuk according to his agent, Igor Larionov. Larionov expects Galchenyuk to play in the NHL next year, “My strong thought is he’ll play in the NHL”
  • BD Gallof via twitter: There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that the Islanders have a trade offer or an interest in Scott Gomez.
  • Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: The Avalanche letting Peter Mueller go for nothing could easily come back and bit them in the rear. The Avs had let Tomas Fleischmann go for nothing in 2011, and he put up 61 points in 82 games last year.
