  • Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times: The Blackhawks are hoping to get captain Jonathan Toews into a game before the end of the regular season. He won’t play today, but Thursday could be a real possibility.

“The last time I was on the ice, I was feeling like I was close to being able to play, and I more of a setback than anything,” Toews said recently. ”So this time around, I feel like there’s nothing I can do really that’s going to make that happen. I’ve been pushing myself harder and harder every day, and I feel good. I feel confident. Any day now, I should be ready to go.”

  • Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun: Simmons put some blame on former CEO Richard Peddie for going cheaply and hiring John Ferguson Jr. He then overpaid for Brian Burke who had to spend time undoing JFJ’s mess. Simmons doesn’t think the Leafs should fire Burke.
  • Vicki Hall of the Calgary Herald: Flames center Olli Jokinen doens’t know if he’ll be returning to the Flames next season. At the trade deadline GM Jay Feaster said he’d like to re-sign Jokinen, and Jokinen has expressed his desire to commit to the Flames long-term.
  • Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News: Sabres Tyler Myers is day-to-day with a foot injury after blocking a shot on Friday. Christian Ehrhoff has been out since Tuesday with a knee injury.
  • Capgeek via twitter: Cancucks Marc-Andre Gragnani will lose his Group 6 UFA status if he plays 3 more games. Hurricanes goalie Justin Peters will be a Group 6 UFA unless he gets in 30 minutes in 3 games. Group 6 UFA watch list: Michael Haley, Stu Bickel, Marc-Andre Gragnani, Christian Hanson, Alexandre Picard, John McCarthy, Cedrick Desjardins, Brad Thiessen, Jeff Zatkoff, Justin Pogge, Chad Johnson.
  • Scotty Bowman interview link: about the 25 minute mark the interview with Ron MacLean and Bowman. Answers some questions on the Canadiens and Maple Leafs.
  • HNIC Hotstove link: Panel talks about CBA issues and RFA Erik Karlsson.
