I`m a little surprised there hasn`t been a Tomas Kaberle countdown for his `trade window`. In today`s Sun, it was the first time in a weeks that I`ve heard mention of him. Kaberle`s `no-trade` clause will kick back in after this Saturday. GM Burke has stated all along that he has no problem heading into the 2009-10 season with Kaberle on the Leafs roster.
I`m sure some trade talks will heat up over the next couple days, but there is a good chance Kaberle will remain with the Leafs. I`d be a little surprised at this, especially after all the trade talk at the NHL Draft.
Although he`s the quarterback of the powerplay, puts up good numbers, and is at a modest $4.25 cap hit, I still think they should move him. I am not a big fan of him, as he`s a defensive liability and soft in my opinion. Too many times have I seen players push themselves past him easily in front of the net, or a playing soft along the boards allowing a player to gain position and head to the net. It drove me nuts, I can`t image how much that would make Burke cringe.
