The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded Daniel Winnik and a 2016 5th round pick (previously acquired from Anaheim) for 2016 2nd round pick, Connor Carrick and Brooks Laich.
Pierre LeBrun: “No salary retention in that Caps-Leafs trade”
Mark Masters: Capital GM Brian MacLellan.
“Daniel is a versatile player who plays with grit and can be used in all situations,” MacLellan said. “This move enables us to add some depth to our forward group and balances our lineup. We would like to thank Brooks for all of his contributions to our organization over the past 10 years. Brooks is a true professional and we wish him all the best in the future.”
General Fanager: “#Leafs now projected to end season with $603,156 in cap space, $8.1M in space going into deadline day tomorrow.”
General Fanager: “#Caps now out from LTI relief, projected to end season with $475,857 cap space. Can activate Carlson when healthy without any other moves.”
Ken Campbell: “Feel sorry for Brooks Laich. Hardworking, loyal soldier for so many underachieving teams, traded at deadline from team that might win Cup.”
Frank Seravalli: “#Leafs eat another sizable contract in Laich to get a 2nd and D Connor Carrick. ”
Platinum Seat Ghosts: “Laich has 4.5M on his deal next year”
