- John Boruk: The Flyers could be looking to sign newly acquired Andrew MacDonald to a contract extension in the $4 to $5 million per season range. Dave Isaac: There have been talks yet, but MacDonald’s agent is “not afraid of a long-term deal.”
- John Vogl: The Sabres ended up trading Thomas Vanek (retaining some of his salary) and Cody McCormick for a first round pick in either 2014 or 2015, three second round picks in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and Torrey Mitchell.

- Adrian Dater: Dater thinks the Avalanche will re-sign Paul Stastny.
