  • Bruce Garrioch via twitter: “The trade market sure sounds like it is having a tough time shaking loose.”
  • Darren Dreger via twitter: The Avalanche are requesting a roster player and a top prospect for Ryan O’Reilly.
  • The Fourth Period: It’s looking more likely that the Avalanche will end up trading O’Reilly. Avs GM Greg Sherman has taken calls, but nothing is thought to be imminent. Adrian Dater tweeted last night:  “O’Reilly’s days as an Av have been over for a while now. He will not be back.” The Sabres, Panthers, Islanders and Maple Leafs are believed to be interested.
  • Bruce Garrioch via twitter: “Ducks scouts weren’t here because there r discussions between Sens and ANA. Bob Murray intends to try to keep Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf.”
  • Andy Strickland via twitter: The Blues would have to give up a good price to a get a quality defenseman that they need.
  • Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Matheson names 6 UFA’s that could be traded: Mark Streit (NYI), Nik Antropov (WIN), Ryan Whitney (EDM), Robyn Regehr (BUF), Tim Connolly (TOR) and Dustin Penner (LA)
  • The Fourth Period: According to Winnipeg Free Press reports, Jets defenseman Paul Postma has been coming up in trade talks. Postma could be top 4 Dman. The Jets already have Dustin Byfuglien, Toby Enstrom and Zach Bogosian along the blueline. The Jets would likely look for equal value in a forward that is ready to play now.
  • Andy Strickland via twitter: Sources are saying not to be surprised if the Sabres move or attempt to move Nathan Gerbe. He’s been moved to the 4th line and hasn’t made much of an impact. Patrick Kaleta’s return from injury could make him expendable. Ville Leino could be on his way to having labrum surgery that would put him out for the year.
