- Erik Erlendsson of Tampa Tribune: Vincent Lecavalier will have surgery on his broken handle today and will be out of the lineup for 3-4 weeks. He has a “non-displaced fracture near the knuckle below his right index finger”. Simon Gagne skated over the weekend for the first time since straining his neck back on Oct. 21st. He could be back practicing with the team by next week.
- Iain MacIntyre of the Vancouver Sun: The Canucks and Christian Ehrhoff have halted contract talks for now, but Ehrhoff did say he would take less than market value to stay in Vancouver. Ehrhoff is making $3.4 million this year. “Hamhuis’ $4.5 million salary may be used by Gillis as a soft cap for Vancouver defencemen. The Canucks probably don’t want to pay any more for Ehrhoff, who could command $5 million annually as an unrestricted free agent. “
- Rich Thompson of the Boston Herald: David Krejci took part in his first practice yesterday since suffering a moderate concussion on Nov. 6th. He hasn’t taken any neurological test yet, and isn’t able to take part in contract drills yet. “We don’t really know. Concussions are concussions and it’s really hard to pinpoint to (a return),” said Julien. “He could have a setback or we might want to hold him back a little longer, that’s the part we don’t know. He passed the test that allowed him to practice with us, but he was not allowed any contact and hopefully that will be the next step.”
- Dan O’Neill of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Carlo Colaiacovo could return to the Blues lineup tonight as he’s been symptom free from his latest concussion for 8 days, and has skated with the team for the last 3 days. David Perron status is still uncertain, and he didn’t travel with the team.
- Helene Elliott of the LA Times: Jonathan Bernier will get the start in net tonight for the Kings.
- Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Though not a 100% certain, but it looks like Sergei Bobrovsky will start tonight, and James van Riemsdyk could return to the lineup against the Senators. van Riemsdyk is likely in for Andreas Nodl who was injured on Saturday.
