Mark Divver: The Bruins will sign 2017 first-round pick Urho Vaakenainen to an entry-level contract before their development camp at the end of June. It still hasn’t been decided if he’ll play in North America or in Europe next season.

Pat Steinberg: The Flames won’t be signing 2014 sixth-round pick Adam Ollas-Mattsson by today’s deadline. GM Brad Treliving said they haven’t ruled out signing him to an AHL only deal.
On the Florida Panthers …
Florida Panthers: The Panthers have signed defenseman Josh Brown to two-year, two-way contract. Defenseman Ludwig Bystrom signed a one-year, two-way deal.
Renaud Lavoie: Brown will get $650,000 next season and will get $700,000 in 2019-20.
On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
Joe Smith: Forward Ryan Callahan will have his third surgery in the past two years. His recent surgery will have him out for five months, so he could miss the start of the season.
Joe Smith: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman plans on bringing in some “new voices, new ideas” to their coaching staff. Having NHL experience isn’t a requirement for next assistant coaches. Yzerman already has some ideas on potential candidates, but they’ll be expanding their list.

Dhiren Mahiban: The Maple Leafs won’t be signing Nicolas Mattenin and he’ll be re-entering the draft.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
Rick Dhaliwal: Michael DiPietro signs a three-year entry-level deal. He’ll get salaries of $650,000, $750,000 and $800,000. His bonuses are among the best for that draft class.
On the Vegas Golden Knights …
Cap Friendly: The Golden Knights have signed restricted free agents Tomas Hyka and Zac Leslie. Hyka gets a one-year, two-way deal – $650,000 in the NHL and $75,000 in the minors. Leslie also gets a one-year, two-way deal – $675,000 in the NHL and $75,000 in the minors.
On the Washington Capitals …
Tarik El-Bashir: Coach Barry Trotz said that forward Evgeny Kuznetsov is day-to-day and he didn’t provide any other information. The Capitals said on Wednesday night that it was an upper-body injury.
