Forward David Backes suffered a concussion after taking a big hit from Lightning’s J.T. Miller. Backes was still suffering concussion symptoms but figured he would have been out for at least the rest of round two.
Forward Patrice Bergeron was dealing with a late-season groin injury that might require surgery. Bergeron missed Game 4 with what they thought was concussion-like symptoms but may have been from a bad head cold.
Forward Jake DeBrusk had a sprained AC joint in his shoulder.
Forward Riley Nash has been dealing with hip issue since February. It’s not known if he’ll need surgery or not. He also had a concussion from taking a puck to the deal.
