On legalized sports betting …

NHL.com: The NHL on the Supreme Court’s decision yesterday.

“The Supreme Court’s decision today paves the way to an entirely different landscape – one in which we have not previously operated. We will review our current practices and policies and decide whether adjustments are needed, and if so, what those adjustments will look like. It’s important to emphasize that the Supreme Court’s decision has no immediate impact on existing League rules relating to sports wagering, and particularly, wagering involving NHL games. So, while changes may be considered in the future, today’s decision does not directly impact the operation of the League or any of our Clubs in the short term.”

On the Nashville Predators …

Brooks Bratten: Coach Peter Laviolette said that Pekka Rinne will start next season as their No. 1 goaltender: “There shouldn’t be any question in that.”

Robby Stanley of NHL.com: Forward Calle Jarnkrok returned for part of the playoffs but he wasn’t fully healthy. He will be good by training camp.

Ryan Hartman had a labral tear and will require surgery on his shoulder. It is a four- to five-month recovery after surgery, so he might miss the start of training camp.

On the Vegas Golden Knights …

Scott Billeck: Forward David Perron missed Game 2 last night. Coach Gerard Gallant on Perron: “He wasn’t feeling well. He wasn’t a healthy scratch. … I think he’ll be fine.”

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Coach Barry Trotz said that forward Nicklas Backstrom is day-to-day.

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Trotz added that it’s up to Backstrom to say when he’s ready to return to the lineup. Trotz also adds that being up 2-0 in the series “does give us some time if he needs.”

NHL PR: Capitals defenseman Michal Kempny was fined $2,419.35 for his cross-check on Lightning forward Cedric Paquette in Game 2.
