On the Nashville Predators …

Thomas Willis: On Pekka Rinne: “My age is just a number, I still feel great. I still have the passion… but I also think Juuse is deserving of more. And I can’t see into the future, but one of these days I will step aside and the will be his.”

Brooks Bratten of NHL.com: Forward Mike Fisher is retiring again.

“You don’t want be cleaning out your locker in May, there’s no question,” Fisher said. “But I had a great three months, I enjoyed every minute of it. I enjoyed coming to work with these guys and it was a great group of people, from the players to the whole organization and staff. I’m glad I came back. It was awesome and obviously disappointing, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. I know this team will learn and grow and be better and there’s a lot to look forward to.”

Fisher didn’t rule out the possibility of taking a front office job for Predators at some point, but that may not be for awhile.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith: Not that they should make a switch, but coach Jon Cooper said that there is no thoughts on making a goalie change for Game 3: “(Vasilevskiy) is our guy.”

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Rick Dhaliwal: Canucks prospect Elias Pettersson suffered a thumb injury and his World Championships are now over. The Canucks might sign him to an entry-level contract now.

On the Washington Capitals …

Erik Erlendsson: Saw Nicklas Backstrom walking around the arena with two fingers looking like they were splinted and his hand was still wrapped. He did skate again yesterday.
