Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: Heika answers questions from readers. Asked if signing Brad Richards to a contract extension could help entice a new owner. Heika thinks it’s possible and that they have already considered it, but it would be tough to put together as it would involve Richards, the team, the lenders and the NHL. Richards does have a no trade, therefore controls his destiny before he becomes a UFA on July 1st. If the team is struggling in February, Heika thinks he would consider waiving it to move to a contender. He later goes on to say that a contract extension for Richards before the end of the season is unlikely. Heika doesn’t think the Stars would be interested in Sheldon Souray if he’s put on re-entry waivers, he has another year left after this year, and it may be better for the organization to rid out the young kids.
Dmitry Chesnokov via twitter: There are reports that Alexander Radulov signed a 3 year contract extension with the KHL’s Salavat Yulaef.
