On the Montreal Canadiens and Slava Voynov …
Amir Basu: Pierre McGuire was asked if the Canadiens should show interest in Slava Voynov despite the obvious character issues:
“Depends on how you quantify character. Best D outside the NHL, he was miles ahead of anyone at the Olympics, bonafide 1-2 D, more of a 2, his wife has chosen to forgive him, they’ve not had issues since, but would be a tough sell, fans wouldn’t buy it”
Aivis Kalnins: There is a mutual interest between the Canadiens and Voynov, though it is too early to speculate if there is anything more than just interest.

Chris Nichols of FRS Hockey: Elliotte Friedman was on the NHL Network talking about the Montreal Canadiens and Max Pacioretty. Friedman notes on the Habs-Kings trade that was discussed at the draft – Pacioretty may have not like contract extension and that it was a time-sensitive deal. said he wrote it was before the second-round, but someone contacted and said they thought it was before the draft.
“I think L.A., even though they went with Kovalchuk, I think they were prepared to try to add two scorers. So I do think there was a chance that this was still going to happen. I think it’s in limbo now. I think it probably gets revisited. I don’t know if L.A. can do it with the extension that Pacioretty wants, likely not.
“What I think this all means is that Montreal revisits Pacioretty on the market maybe after July 1. Maybe there’s a team that doesn’t get like a van Riemsdyk or someone that says, ‘Okay, we’re back in on Pacioretty.’”
Friedman believes Pacioretty would be fine with playing for the Kings, but he didn’t like the contract extension offer, and “how quickly it was proposed to him.
