Renaud Lavoie: The Colorado Avalanche traded P.A. Parenteau to the Montreal Canadiens for Daniel Briere.
Pat Hickey: The Canadiens will also get a 5th round pick.
The 36-year old Briere was drafted 24th overall in the 1st round of the 1996 draft by the Coyotes. Briere is entering the final year of his deal and carries a salary and cap hit of $4 million.
The 31-year old Parenteau was drafted 264th overall in the ninth round of the 2001 draft by the Ducks. Parenteau has two years left at a $4 million salary and cap hit.
