The LA Kings made a surprise move (to most) and put Mike Richards on waivers yesterday after they were unable to trade him. He cleared waivers today and will be sending some time in the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs.
Teams were scared off as he has five years left on his contact, with a cap hit of $5.75 million.
Now, Richards isn’t the only player that has a big contract that might benefit from a change of scenery. The Maple Leafs have David Clarkson and the Hurricanes have Alex Semin. All players aren’t really living up to the contracts they signed.
