Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: It’s not sounding like the Bruins and Dougie Hamilton are close on a new deal. The Bruins prefer a two or three-year deal in the $4.5 to $5 million range and Hamilton is thinking Drew Doughty and Alex Pietrangelo money ($6.5 to $7 million)
“We’re just trying to stay in real, real good communication and find a solution,” said Sweeney. “Dougie is a really important part of our organization, and I’ve made no bones about the fact that I want him to be a part of that. We’re going to explore every opportunity to do that.
“You need two sides to make a deal, and we’ll continue to explore that and communicate until we find the right deal. The situation is what it is, and we’re just going to face it, communicate and find the right course to get it done.”
Sweeney on offer sheets.
“We’re going to do whatever we have to do to protect the player ,” said Sweeney. “ has certainly been talked about. It is part of the CBA and it’s not going away, so we have to be aware and prepared for it in case one does come our way.
“We’ve presented opportunities on both ends of , and we’ll find a way to get a deal.”
Trade interest in Boston’s Dougie Hamilton is significant. Some see the Bruins offering Hamilton to Ariz for #3 pick. So much speculation.

Boston-Arizona makes sense if the Bruins use the pick to draft Hanifin who is a local Boston boy.

Keep eye on BOS. New GM Don Sweeney is “listening hard” on Milan Lucic trade possibilities. Also has Dougie Hamilton “situation.”

Hamilton pending RFA, possible offer sheet target (EDM?). Not an easy negotiation/situation for BOS so trade rumors have ensued. Stay tuned.
