Draft date set … Keeping salary in trades … Fines increased … Random drug testing

  • Renaud Lavoie via twitter: The NHL draft will be June 30th, and will have all 7 rounds.
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: “*MOU (Memo of Understanding). Legally binding document that will suffice until full CBA is legally drawn up.”
  • James Mirtle via twitter: When keeping salary in a trade, “the amount kept “cannot be altered from year to year” and the cap hit and salary are the same percentage.”
  • Craig Custance via twitter: Each team will be required to have a specific person that is responsible for recording the provision and use of prescription drugs by the players.
  • Chris Johnston via twitter: Players can now be fined up to $10,000 for on-ice infractions, and up to $15,000 for subsequent infractions.
  • Chris Johnston via twitter: The NHL will now be conducting random drug testing throughout the regular season, playoffs and summer.
  • James Mirtle via twitter: “Big market teams will still not get full revenue sharing amount: Clubs in DMAs above 3 million can receive up to 50% of a full share.”
