  • John Shannon: Wayne Gretzky has been “made whole” from his time with the Coyotes, in excess of $7 million. Stephen Whyno: Could be closer to $8 million than $7 million.
  • Rogers Place: Construction of the Oilers Rogers Place is set to begin in early 2014 and should be open for the start of 2016-17.
  • Hope Smoke: Bob McKenzie: “LaFontaine is going to be involved and it’s important that any GM that takes that job to know that.”
  • Bob McKenzie: The Flames informed USA Hockey that defenseman Pat Sieloff won’t be loaned for the World Junior Championship.
  • Aaron Vickers: Flames GM Jay Feaster on not loaning Sean Monahan to the World Juniors: “We can look at the record right now and say ‘Oh the team’s not in a playoff position’ and you can project and speculate all you want but the fact and the matter is every time we put the sweater on our expectation is we go out there to win and we believe in putting the best product on the ice that we’re able to.”
  • Ansar Khan: The Red Wings have recalled Cory Emmerton.
  • Tom Gulitti: Devils Cory Schneider will start in net tonight.
