NHL Rumors: The Stanley Cup Playoffs Format Is Changing Eventually

With NHL Expansion on the horizon, the topic of discussion will come about the league expanding the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The NHL and NHLPA continue to work on a new International Hockey Tournament for February 2025 and it will feature four teams.

Sept 15th – Oct. 5th: Preseason

Oct. 4th: Regular season starts – Global Series

Oct. 4th and 5th: Global Series – Buffalo and Detroit in Prague, Czechia

Oct. 8th: Season starts in North America

Oct. 8th: Utah Hockey Club’s first game – against Chicago

Nov. 1st and 2nd: Global Series – Florida and Dallas in Tampere, Finland

Dec. 31st: NHL Winter Classic – St. Louis vs. Chicago at Wrigley Field

Jan. 18th: Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada

Feb. 10th – Feb. 21st: 4 Nations Face-Off – Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States in Boston and Montreal

Mar. 1st: NHL Stadium Series – Detroit vs. Columbus at Ohio State University
