The Bruins made the decision to hold on to Loui Eriksson at the trade deadline to improve their playoffs chances. In the end, they missed the playoffs and could lose Eriksson for nothing.

Eriksson’s solid two-way play has the 30-year old hoping to land a long-term deal – in the five or six year range – and looking for upwards of $6 million a year. Both term and money don’t sit that well with the Bruins.

Eriksson hit the 30 goal mark for the second time in his career, and has scored more than 25 goals five times.

His 63 points this year had him tied for 28th in the league. A third of his goals came on the power play, adding two shorthanded and five game winning goals. Eriksson had 37 5v5 points.
