On Jonathan Drouin …

  • Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: No Jonathan Drouin trade appeared imminent yesterday despite the TVA Sports report that something could go down. Drouin has been playing with Syracuse in the AHL and has been pointless since his first game.

“We’ll see what happens the next couple days.” Asked what that meant, he responded, “I’m just saying we’ll see what’s going on, and … if I go up (to the Lightning) or get traded.”

The Blues appear to be the leading candidate, with the Ducks, Predators and Wild showing interest. It seems the Lightning would prefer to send him to the West.

The Lightning are likely wanting a young, controllable player in return. If they take on salary, they’ll likely have to send some out, with Matt Carle a likely candidate.

The Blues have Colton Parayko and Robby Fabbri who might interested the Lightning. The Ducks are desperate for offense and have Sami Vatanen.

  • Platinum Seat Ghosts: Elliotte Friedman said the Predators, Ducks and Blues are the favorites to land Drouin.
  • Joe Smith: Can see a Drouin trade with the Blues involving multiple players. The Lightning don’t have a lot of salary cap  space.
  • Erik Erendsson of the Tampa Tribune: Trade talk involving Jonathan Drouin is heating up. Drouin has gone pointless in four of the five games he’s played with Syracuse. The Lighting are likely looking to get a right-handed defenseman and a young player that has some term left on his contract.
  • The Fourth Period: Multiple sources saying the Blues and Lightning have discussed a bigger deal that included Kevin Shattenkirk, Robby Fabbri and Jonathan Drouin. Two sources said the teams even talked about including Ben Bishop and Brian Elliott in a huge deal. The Canadiens, Ducks, Predators, Flyers, Wild, Flames, Avalanche and Rangers have also shown interest.
