NHL Rumors X: TSNs Insider Trading, Red Wings, Ducks, Lecavalier and Spezza

  • TSN Insider Trading: McKenzie: Jason Spezza talk has picked up in the last 24-48 hours, with four teams talking to the Sens. Three teams from the West including the Blues and Ducks.

Dreger: Dave Bolland is asking the Leafs for eight years at $4.9 million a year. Leafs prefer a deal in the five to six year range.

Dreger: The Oilers are looking for a center and a defenseman. The Oilers 3rd overall pick and Sam Gagner are in play. They are also still in on the first overall pick.

McKenzie: Not looking like Joe Thornton is on the move at this time. Thornton has no intention of waiving his no-movement clause at this time. There is no list of teams, but you would expect them not to want to trade with the Ducks, Kings or Blackhawks.

McKenzie: Ryan Kesler’s list has six teams, with the Ducks and Blackhawks the most interested at this time. Nothing is imminent. The Ducks and Blackhawks may feel they are the only two teams in the running, therefore not offering as much as they would if more teams were involved. Canucks won’t deal him unless they get what they want.

  • Ansar Khan of MLive: The Red Wings reached out to several players yesterday, and will have a face-to-face meeting with Matt Niskanen, Dan Boyle and a few others. Niskanen is likely looking for seven years. Money could be an issues as the Wings may not have a lot of space. Boyle will get interest from the Rangers, Leafs and Lightning as well. Other free agent targets could include: Anton Stralman, Tom Gilbert, Stephane Robidas and Derek Morris. They haven’t ruled out re-signing Kyle Quincey. The Wings have also reached out to some top-six free agents.
  • Eric Stephens of the OC Register: The Ducks want either Ryan Kesler or Jason Spezza. Trade talks have been ongoing.
  • Darren Dreger: Vincent Lecavalier gets a $2 million bonus on July 1st, so a trade may be tough. Lecavalier’s agent has permission to talk with teams.
  • Pierre LeBrun: Expectation was that P.K. Subban’s camp and the Canadiens were to meet today.
