  • Katie Flynn of theScore: Red Wings Pavel Datsyuk hasn’t ruled out playing for his hometown Avtomobilist Yekaterinberg of the KHL before his hockey days are finished. He’ll be 38-years old when his Red Wings contract expires in three years. Datsyuk to “Sportbox,”

“It is hard to talk about it now. My dream is to play for the remains, but look at how the rest of my hockey career .”

  • Tal Pinchevsky of NHL.com: Capitals coach Barry Trotz on Evgeny Kuznetsov’s spot on the teams depth chart.

“I talked to him about coming in and playing center, which he did more in Europe than he did here,” Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. “He’s got a really high skill level. He’s going to be adjusting. I think he can really be a strong candidate for that second-line spot and really take some heat off the Backstrom spot on the top line. I think he’ll be able to make those plays.”

  • Ryan Dadoun of Pro Hockey Talk: Reports from the website of HC Kometa Brno (Czech league) have Tomas Vincour returning to the Avalanche. Vincour was traded to the Avalanche by the Stars for Cameron Gaunce in 2013. He spent last season with AK Bars Kazan of the KHL.
