- Elliotte Friedman and Damian Cox: Friedman: Hurricanes Eric Staal doesn’t want to be traded and he could return on Tuesday. He wants to stay long-term unless there is a new owner who wants to go a different direction.
Cox: The Sabres would like to send Nikita Zadorov back to the OHL,but he could head to the KHL if he wanted too. Sam Reinhart could be headed back to junior.
Friedman: The Oilers will likely keep Leon Draisaitl past 10 games. 40 games is the next mark to look at, as if he plays more than that, he could become a UFA at 25-years old.
Friedman: The Flyers offered Ryan Whitney a two-way deal. Whitney is with Sochi of the KHL and wants to stay. The Flyers haven’t talked to the Oilers about Jeff Petry. They have cap issues and if they are able to create some space, they could make that call.
