  • Tim Panaccio: Sounds more promising for Flyers Kimmo Timonen than it did a couple weeks ago. If he’s able to return, GM Ron Hextall would have to clear some cap space. Sam Carchidi: Hextall said he’ll have more info on Timonen in the next day or two.
  • Edmonton Oilers: Oilers coach Nelson on Taylor Hall’s lower leg injury: “He’s still day-to-day. It’s a bone bruise.” His status for tonight is not known.
  • Dave Molinari: Penguins coach Mike Johnston doesn’t know if Evgeni Malkin will be on the ice this weekend. If he is, he could travel with the team to Western Canada next week.
  • Dave Isaac: Flyers GM Ron Hextall thinks that Shayne Gostisbehere could be back playing by the end of February.
  • Tim Panaccio: Hextall said that Scott Laughton skated yesterday on his own and is making some progress.
  • Tim Panaccio: Flyers Nicklas Grossmann said he needs more time with his right shoulder movement. It was a soft-tissue injury and not a dislocation.
  • Ansar Khan: Red Wings Jonas Gustavsson is getting close to returning. When he’s ready he’ll go to the AHL for a game or two on a conditioning assignment.
  • Sarah McLellan: Coyotes Joe Vitale is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and is questionable for tomorrow.
  • Scott Mitchell: Flames Curtis Glencross (lower-body) practiced yesterday, but was ruled out by head coach Bob Hartley for their game against the Wild.
  • Mike Heika: Stars Erik Cole and Brett Ritchie practiced yesterday and will be game time decision tonight.
  • Ken Wiebe: Jets head coach said there is nothing to be concerned with regards to Dustin Byfuglien and Jacob Trouba. Both will play against the Flyers.
  • Rob Mixer: The Blue Jackets put Jeremy Morin on the IR with an upper-body injury.
  • Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: If Artem Anisimov and Ryan Murray are cleared by doctors, they could play as early as tonight.
