- Mark Spector of Sportsnet: The Flames could look at trading Curtis Glencross for a player that could help now rather than a pick or prospect.
“Did I figure we would be looking to potentially add at the deadline? A lot of things would have had to go right for that to happen,” Treliving admitted this week. “But our team has a good chemistry. I want to be very cautious.”
Are the Flames a Playoff team?

“I think for the most part they’re guarding against being seduced by the fact that they’re in the playoffs and saying, ‘Hey, we need to bring also in a bunch of rentals to give it our best shot.’
“They recognize their best chance to win the Cup and be a contender is still years down the road. Having said that, if they could get a rental at the right price they might be interested. They want to upgrade their top 4 D. They want to upgrade their top 6 forwards. But that’s not going to be done in the rental market.
“Curtis Glencross, actually, is a guy who’s more likely to be going out the door than somebody being added. Glencross is unrestricted at the end of the year. They probably want to use that roster spot to bring in one of the kids next year. So there’s a good chance that he’ll be dealt before the deadline. Their best chance would be to take a bunch of prospects not named Sam Bennett, package them together to try to get a top-4, or a top-6 forward. But that’s not likely to be done by the deadline.”
