Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News: Ryan O’Reilly’s court case in London, Ontario has been pushed back again, and is scheduled for October 1st. O’Reilly has been charged with impaired driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
AP in the USA Today: Mike Richards court case has been postponed until December 8th. He’s been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Tom Gulitti of The Record: Devils 2012 third round draft pick Ben Johnson won’t attend their rookie camp, prospect tournament and main camp as he waits for the verdict of his sexual assault trial. Closing arguments ended on August 27th, but a ruling isn’t expected until October 30th. The alleged incident happened on January 13th, 2013 at a Windsor, Ontario bar while Johnson was playing for the Spitfires (OHL). Johnson will also be going to trial for another sexual assault charge from a March 17th, 2013 incident.

Joe Yerdon: Cody Franson said he’ll play on the right side in Buffalo. When he first joined the Maple Leafs he played on the left side, and he said it didn’t go too well.

Ansar Khan of MLive: Red Wings Johan Franzen hopes to be cleared for training camp. He has been skating for awhile, but he continues to experience some setbacks. If he isn’t cleared to return, the Wings will put him on the LTIR. If he’s not able to return at all, he’s not likely to retire, but the Wings will get cap relief as long as he’s on in the LTIR.
Lou Korac: Blues Jay Bouwmeester said he has no more issues with the groin injury that bothered him last season.
