On the Colorado Avalanche and Jarome Iginla …

Josh Cooper of Yahoo! Sports: Forward Jarome Iginla is ready to move on from the Avalanche as he would like to be traded by the trade deadline.

“I would like to, at the deadline, go somewhere,” Iginla said in an interview with Puck Daddy before the Avalanche played the Kings. “I would like to be in the playoffs. I would hope that there is some opportunity to go and play in the playoffs. Those are the best games, the most fun for sure, and you have a chance to win. So no, I haven’t given up on that chance to win.”

There haven’t really been any talks with management yet.

Iginla is in the last year of his three-year, $16 million. He’s not having a great season with six goals and six assists in 47 games.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News: Sharks GM Doug Wilson when asked how he sees the trade market right now.

“We look at it from our point of view. We take a look at every team in the league and there’s teams that are trying to decide if they’re a today team or a tomorrow team. … The cap system, we’re going to need (our prospects). Having said that, do you explore everything? Yeah, we always have and we always will. But the next month or so will be another opportunity — knock on wood, we get a couple guys back healthy — it would be nice to have all our puzzle pieces together so you get to view your team. I think we have a pretty good read on our group and right now, we like the depth, we like the competition that’s there. It’s a battle just to stay in. I see more competition coming from the Barracuda if you ask (coach) Roy (Sommer).”

They may not really want to part with young assets, but it’s Wilson isn’t ruling it out.

“If something comes along that makes us a better team, absolutely. Our history speaks for itself. We’ve always done that. Sometimes you build your team in the offseason. We’ve added some important pieces. Some of them come from in-house.”
