On the New Jersey Devils …
David Pagnotta: The Devils, along with the Rangers, are a team that could help out in a potential Senators – Lightning trade. The Devils have been involved the trade talks.
Chris Ryan of NJ.com: The Devils could be involved in the Erik Karlsson trade conversations as team that could take on player to help the others clear some salary.
The Senators are looking to move Bobby Ryan, and the Devils have the space but they would need to get a good asset. Ryan has only recorded 58 points in the past 124 and hasn’t lived up to his contract and could use a fresh start.
The Lightning have Dan Girardi and Braydon Coburn with a year left on their deals, and Ryan Callahan has two years left. The Devils would need to also get a future asset or two.
On the New York Rangers …
Larry Brooks: Continue to believe that Ryan Callahan would help the Rangers. If the Rangers were going to work out a deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning for him, the Rangers would also need to get more than a draft pick back if they are going to help out the Lightning load up.
On the Washington Capitals …
