Voynov’s NHL return not cleared by NHL

@galkevich32: Alexander Medvedev announced yesterday that defenseman Slava Voynov has received permission to return to the NHL.

Igor Eronko: Voynov is now able to talk to NHL teams, but will he be able to find a team willing to take him on?

John Shannon: An NHL source is saying that the NHL has not cleared his return yet.

Anderson says he’s “too old for drama”

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: There were rumors last June that Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson requested a trade. Anderson wouldn’t confirm this, but he said that he doesn’t want to go through another season like last year, and added that he’s focused on getting the team back on track.

“I love Ottawa and I love playing in Ottawa,” Anderson told TSN’s Mark Masters after participating in a tribute game to late USA Hockey executive Jim Johannson.

“My only comment on that is that I’m too old for drama and I don’t want anything to do with drama. Hopefully, we’ve resolved all that. Ottawa. I’ve been there for eight years now, and that’s my home. I’ve got no interest in going anywhere else as long as we can clean up what was going on this summer.”

Anderson said he didn’t previously know anything about Erik Karlsson – Mike Hoffman situation.

Anderson has two years left on his contract at $4.75 million.

An aggressive approach for the Canucks

Ed Willes of the Vancouver Province: When Trevor Linden was the President of the Vancouver Canucks, he was interested in a patiently rebuilding the team. Ownership wasn’t on board with that, and GM Jim Benning offered up an aggressive approach which included an offer for John Tavares.

An interest in trading for defenseman Erik Karlsson would follow with his aggressive approach.

The Canucks only organization strength right now is their prospects, and it would take three or four of them to land someone like Karlsson.

Willes notes: “The Canucks’ direction remains muddied but one thing is clear. They’re not going to win back consumer confidence by changing course again.”
