$16 million a year for Makar, and what a Rangers package for Quinn may have included
Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) Think a reasonable number for Cale Makar on a long-term contract extension with the Colarado Avalanche will be $16 million per season. That would put an eight-year deal at $128 million total.
Would guess, with no info from anyone associated with the New York Rangers, that the Rangers would have included Alexis Lafreniere, Braden Schneider and a first-round pick would have been a part of their offer to the Vancouver Canucks for Quinn Hughes. The Wild’s offer was younger, and the Rangers don’t have a Zeev Buium.

“But you know, if you look at Calgary, what I think they’ve been doing all year is they’ve been saying, ‘we’re not tearing it down.’ For one thing, they believe they’re not going to be able to with Wolf being Wolf.
But, you know, they’re, they’re not going to tear it down, but they’re going to let this year play out. They’re not going to do short-term fixes, and they’re going to try to get the best pick they can.
I think what’s going on with Vancouver is, Rick, I think they’re going to do the same thing. I don’t think they’re going to do any short-term fixes.
Like comp, (David) Kampf is different. Like you go out and you get him just to plug a hole. But they’re not going to do any short-term fixes. Any bad short term moves. They’re going to let this year play out. They’re going to see what they get, and they’re going to deal with it all again after the season.
NHL Rumors: Quinn Hughes Open Minded To Staying in Minnesota
But I think that they weren’t going to use the word while Hughes was here, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that that word pops up now that Hughes has been traded.”
