Is There Truly a Goalie Market, or is it Just One or Two Names?
Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio with Steve Kouleas and Andrew Raycroft and was asked what the goalie market will actually be like.

Andrew Raycroft: “Dave, my last question of 2025, here it comes. The goalie market. We saw (Stuart) Skinner-(Tristan) Jarry, that was Edmonton that had been on the hook for a long, long time. Is there any other goalie chatter, any other teams looking to upgrade? Are there goalies out there that need to be moved?”
Not Another Hybrid Retool Coming with the Vancouver Canucks
Dave Pagnotta: “I’m really curious to see how Sam Montembault performs today (Tuesday night) with the Habs, and I think with how (Jakub) Dobes has gotten better, and he’s improved his performance. Obviously, Jacob Fowler has done well in his first stretch here with the Canadiens, premature or not. He’s held the fort down as best as he can with the Habs.
And I think they’re in a position where, if they’re going to continue this, if they’re going to continue to ride this, and if there are teams that are looking to shore up the goaltending position. I think the Canadiens would be in a spot to, at the very least entertain calls on that pickle. But he’s got to play better. Regardless, when they hold on to it or take some of those inquiries, he’s got to play better. And he’ll have an opportunity here today, tonight, (Tuesday night) to get back on track in some form.
The other guy that I’m looking at, and we’ve been hearing from a free agent side. We’ve been hearing some speculation around Marc-Andre Fleury. The possibility of him coming back as teams reached out to his camp a little bit to see if he would change his mind. The other guy is James Reimer, and he’s overseas right now in Switzerland, playing for Canada at the Spengler Cup.
He’s kept in shape. He’s been on the ice since the season started. He’s gotten some interest earlier on in the season, but I think for him, if an opportunity were to arise, that puts him in a position to join a contender stabilize their goaltending position, I think that’s a name we can look at here between now and the next few weeks, with respect to the goalie market.
NHL Rumors: Could the Edmonton Oilers Lure Marc-Andre Fleury Out of Retirement?
You don’t have to pay for one. You can just lock him into a contract. James Reimer is somebody that’s still out there and willing to take that shot.”
