Tire-kicking on Nazem Kadri with term scaring some
TSN: Teams are wondering what’s next for the Calgary Flames after they traded Rasmus Andersson over the weekend. Darren Dreger said that there are ongoing talks between the Flames and Nazem Kadri‘s camp. Kadri would like to win a cup, but he also wants to do what’s best for the Flames. There is nothing imminent, but there is interest.
“I would say there’s some developing interest. There’s been tire-kicking from Toronto, Montreal, Colorado, LA, maybe the Dallas Stars. But there’s still a lot of work to get done, and there’s no rush as far as Calgary is concerned.”
Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet: The 35-year-old Nazem Kadri can still hold his own as a No. 2 center. He’s got three years left at $7 million, and the Flames are not in a rush to move him. His age and the term left on his contract are making some teams cautious and it’s reflective on what they’d be willing to give up for him.

The Calgary Flames should be looking to maximize Blake Coleman’s return, but there’s no guarantee he’s moved
TSN: Flames GM Craig Conroy told Pierre LeBrun that it’s a tough decision for them to make with Nazem Kadri and Blake Coleman. He’s taking calls, but it’s not for sure that they’ll move them as they look to get younger.
“They’re quite ready to keep Coleman; he’s an important leader in that dressing room, but they can’t say 100 per cent because there might be an offer that puts it over the top, given the interest that there is on the market for Coleman.”
Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet: The 34-year-old Coleman has another year left on his contract at just under $5 million. He’s a versatile forward who can put the puck in the net. They should be looking to maximize their return on him, and he’s generating plenty of interest.

J.T. Miller isn’t interested in leaving, and the New York Rangers wouldn’t ask him to waive his NMC
TSN: New York Rangers GM Chris Drury has met with all his players who have no-movement clauses, including Artemi Panarin and J.T. Miller. Miller’s name has been out there, according to Pierre LeBrun, who is not sure why. But he’s not interested in waiving, and they’re not interested in asking him to waive his NMC.
“What I was told today is that Miller has no intention of waiving his no-move clause, and the Rangers have no intention of going to him and asking to waive it. They traded for him last year, they made him captain, and they still believe in the reasons why they made that move. Miller should not be part of whatever exodus of players leaves New York.”
