Nothing will be off the table for the Nashville Predators
Adam Vingan: Barry Trotz on 102.5 The Game this week on the Nashville Predators, having to consider all options. When asked if we should assume that Ryan O’Reilly won’t be traded before the trade deadline, Trotz said:
“No, I think everything has to be on the table. As I said, I have not had any conversations with Ryan on … his situation. I have to listen to all offers. If there’s an offer that blows my mind a bit, then I have to listen.
But at the same time, we’re not in the playoffs. And that’s the bottom line. As I said early in the year, nothing’s off the table, and it shouldn’t be.”
NHLRumors.com Note: O’Reilly has one more year on his contract at a $4.5 million cap hit. He doesn’t have any trade protection, but Trotz as said they are treating him like he does have protection. In 53 games this season, O’Reilly has 18 goals and 33 assists heading into Thursday night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t throwing in the towel just yet
TSN: The Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t ready to throw in the towel on their season just yet, according to Darren Dreger. Their four-game road trip before the Olympic break will play a big role in what they do after (they lost their first game last night), if they become sellers or not. GM Brad Treliving will have to see what options are out there.
“That includes finding out what the market looks like for some of his pending unrestricted free agents. Players like Bobby McMann, Scott Laughton, Troy Stecher, and Calle Jarnkrok. He has to balance and compare that with what extending some of those pieces might look like as well.”

Buyer or seller decision time is nearing for the Columbus Blue Jackets
TSN: The Columbus Blue Jackets are 6-1 after firing Dean Evason and hiring Rick Bowness. They don’t want to be sellers, but where they sit before the Olympic deadline will determine if they’re buyers or sellers, according to Pierre LeBrun. Currently aren’t a lot of sellers, which is frustrating the buyers. There will be options if the Blue Jackets look to sell.
“The Blue Jackets have a bunch of interesting pending UFAs. They have Boone Jenner, they have Mason Marchment – who they traded for, but it was always the possibility of flipping him – they have Charlie Coyle, Erik Gudbranson.”
The center market is thin, so the Blue Jackets are getting a lot of calls on Coyle. Jenner is a popular guy in Columbus, so there is a chance that they hold on to him and look to extend him.
