Rachel Lenzi: Buffalo Sabres forwards Sam Carrick (left arm) and Noah Ostlund (upper-body), and goaltender Alex Lyon (lower-body) weren’t at practice yesterday.

Lia Assimakopoulos: Dallas Stars coach Glen Guluzan said that forward Roope Hintz did suffer a setback during his recovery, and that they had hoped he’d be back by now.

Gulutzan said that they are hopeful that defenseman Miro Heiskanen will be ready for Game 1. He’s listed as day-to-day.

Heather Engel: Stars forward Sam Steel returned to the lineup after missing the past nine games with an undisclosed injury.

Jason Gregor: Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch on forward Jason Dickinson: “He will meet with the doctors again on Friday, and we will have a discussion about what is best. I want him back. He is desperate to play.”

NHL: Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman will return to the lineup tonight. He’s missed their past five games with an undisclosed injury.

Jameson Olive: Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk on being able to play last night: “It’s the NHL. It’s an honor to play each and every night. I’m excited to be back in tonight. … Not the year that anybody wanted individually or collectively, but there’s a whole lot we can learn from this year.”

Jameson Olive: Panthers forward Tomas Nosek, who missed most of the year with a knee injury, broke his leg during their last game. It wasn’t the same leg as his knee injury.

Amanda Stein: New Jersey Devils forward Stefan Noesen had a cyst on the back of his knee removed instead of constantly requiring it to be drained. It kept getting worse.

Andrew Gross: New York Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock said that he had been dealing with an upper-body injury for most of the season. Late in the season, he had been dealing with a knee issue. He’s not worried about the knee, but might need some work done on his shoulder.

Pens Inside Scoop: Things are status quo with Pittsburgh Penguins forward Blake Lizotte. They’ll talk with their medical staff shortly.
